Occurrence
Colour variation in metallic paint, with patches of lighter or darker tint (resembling clouds) appearing on the paint surface
Causes
- Incorrect paint viscosity, spraying technique, evaporation times,
- too high or too low temperature during spraying
- wrong gun, gun nozzle, spray pressure
- Unsuitable thinner
Prevention
- Set the correct spray viscosity
- Keep the spray gun at an even distance from the object to be painted.
- Choose the right gun and nozzle
- Use only recommended thinners
- Observe evaporation times
- Observe the application method specified in the technical data sheet
Removal
For conventional basecoats: use the dripless method before the clearcoat. After the clear coat has dried, sand the surface and recoat it
For water-thinnable basecoats: apply the final coat evenly to the wet basecoat as recommended
