Occurrence
Swelling and lifting of existing coating (wavy paint surface)
Causes
- Inappropriate choice of paint materials for the application conditions (thinners too slow)
- Paint viscosity too low
- Too cold paint or surface
- Too thick paint coat
- Too short drying time
- Gun held too close to the surface or moved too slowly
- Gun nozzle diameter too large
Prevention
- Use the correct materials in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended technology
- Prepare the substrate properly
- Use the correct gun (nozzles)
- Use the recommended thinner
- Avoid application at too high a temperature
Removal
Small flaws can be removed by sanding with P1000-P1200 paper and polishing with polishing paste. If there are large patches, the entire coatings should be removed and reapplied.
